On a wing and a prayer .

I prayed for it.. then it happened. Be careful what you pray for.. that is what we are told. Always ask for other people not for yourself.. well I sort of was asking for other people really.

Back in 1980 something, I was running a grooming and deportment school in a little town in W.A. I had big dreams and huge ideas and absolutely No money.. All promotions were done on a wing and a prayer and all the classes followed the same recipe.. I was convinced that if you really believed you could do something then a way would be shown to you on how to do it..

One particular day I was getting ready for 16 fourteen year old girls to arrive for a make up class. Can you imagine 16 teenagers let loose on pots of eye shadow and sticks of lipstick.. yes heaven and hell all mixed in together. The class was due to start at 4pm. It was actually 10 am when I realised that my meagre stock of Maybelline lipsticks would not stretch to 16 faces..

It was time to raid the bathroom cupboards and rustle up some extra items from the home supplies.. but before I hit the home front I remembered the good old fashioned " prayer notion". I was in a dilemma.. I needed divine intervention and fast.. it felt right to just ask..

I sat on the office chair in the middle of the demonstration room and cleared my throat... to say a few very powerful words to " my maker " it went something like this... " now look here god.. who ever you are.. or where ever you are.. I really need a shot of luck and help down here."
"I mean if I am supposed to be doing this personal development with teenagers then show me a sign that I am on the right track, get me buckets of makeup RIGHT now" .
There was no room for bargaining here.. this was a serious need.. the voice of a desperate person on a mission..

I dutifully thought to myself well if this works then it's a miracle.. I went home in search of the extra beauty items... poor Elly and Ruth my 2 daughters they were about to donate all their make up to a good cause... when needs must and all that.

I arrived back at the office armed with a small box of goodies.. but still not enough for 16 giggling girls.. .Then one of those Magic Moments happened... the phone rang and the voice said..

" Hi Pam.. Belinda here from the local beautician's.. I was wondering if your girls would like all our old stock of make up..?" I nearly fell off the chair. I didn't want to sound too needy so in a light hearted controlled ( well I thought it was ) voice I said.. " Oh how lovely yes I am sure they would." Gulping with excitement at the other end of the phone.

Half and hour later in walked " the stock" little did I know that it was going to be a whole display stand with every colour of eyeshadow, lipstick, blush, eyeliner, mascara and all the brushes to go with it.. there was enough for 50 girls..

Wha heeeeee... what a wonderful time we are all going to have... and my two daughters would be the envy of all there friends too. I was now winning on two fronts..there is a God it works this is a serious miracle and the best magic moment to date.

I do not have to tell you the delight and excitement that unfolded at 4pm when all " the girls" rocked up for their sessions.. it was sheer heaven on a stick.. their faces were like children at Christmas.. sparkling eyes and faces of pure joy and screams and giggles as they made up each others faces... blues and pinks, peaches and greens.. they had the lot..

I was ecstatic too there was a GOD after all he does listen.. he is reachable.. what form or shape he/she has is not important the act of love and the believe was enough for me.. Cheers to following your dreams making it happen and loving the adventure along the way.. Magic moments do happen..

Please add yours to my Blog site and watch this space as we double and triple our own Magic Moments every day..

Love to you all PammieB
